Keep a good day going strong with this quick balancing yoga break.

Quick Balancing Yoga Break

It’s important to build short breaks into our daily routines, so that we can manage our energy levels and keep our creativity flowing.

This quick balancing yoga break will teach you how to keep your breath, body and mind balanced in under 5 minutes.

You can practice this technique standing or seated. If you are standing you will need the back of a chair to hold onto and use as a gentle point of leverage for your twists.

Simply inhale for a count of 6 as you lengthen your spine in both directions. Next, exhale for 6 counts as you turn your chest, shoulders and head to the right. Hold the twist and continue to breath evenly for at least 5 complete breaths.

Place an emphasis on keeping both sides (inhalation and exhalation) of your breath balanced. You should feel an ease to your breath. If you feel that you are straining to meet the length on one or both sides of the breath, then reduce the count to 4 for both inhalations and exhalations.

When you sync your physical movement with your breath while focusing your attention, you are practicing yoga versus stretching. This concentrated balance of effort and ease, connected to balanced inhalations and exhalations, will leave you feeling physically and energetically balanced in as little as 5 breaths on each side.

This balanced twist shouldn’t take you more than 3 minutes once you get the hang of it. You may be tempted to rush through, but do your best to stay focused and really make those 3 minutes count.
